Research activity

My research activity concerns applications of Operator Algebras methods to Quantum Field Theory, and in particular the study of its small spacetime scale properties, in the framework of the algebraic approach to the Renormalization Group and to the scaling limit developed by D. Buchholz and R. Verch (1994). I'm also interested in models of Quantum Spacetime and their possible physical implications. Main results:

• construction, in terms of observables of the finite-scale theory, of a C* category equivalent to the superselection category of the scaling limit theory [Mor03];
• generalization of the scaling limit construction to Doplicher-Roberts charged fields nets [Mor02, DMV04];
• general analysis of short distance properties of superselection sectors, and of their preservation in the ultraviolet limit [DMV04];
• formulation of an intrinsic notion of charge confinement in Quantum Field Theory [Mor03, DMV07];
• construction of Quantum Field Theory models exhibiting superselection sectors with all the possible kinds of short distance behaviour [DMV06];
• proof of multiplicative renormalizability of Wightman fields associated to the net of local algebras and study of the scaling of their Operator Product Expansion [BDM09];
• study of the structure of scaling limit theories associated to generalized scaling limit states, in particular to dilation invariant states [BDM10];
• analysis of the behaviour of the scaling limit with respect to subsystems, and relations with the quantum Noether theorem [CM09];
• construction of Noether currents form local implementers of symmetries in free field models [MT10];
• analysis of the scaling limit in a class of two-dimensional integrable models [BLM11];
• generalization to curved spacetime of the DFR analysis on operational limitations to localizability and study of backreaction on quantum spacetime [DMP12];
• existence of bijection between classes of morphisms of the scaling limit and suitable classe of asymptotic morphisms of the underlying theory [CM12].
