PhD course "Operator Algebraic Models of Quantum Field Theory" - a.y. 2019/2020 - Spring Semester
Dottorato in Matematica - PhD School in Mathematics
Dipartimento di Matematica, Università di Roma "Tor Vergata"
(online course)
Lecturer: Fabio Ciolli
Schedule: 24 hours, two 2-hours-meeting/week, times and days TBD according to requirements of the participants.
1st meeting Wednesday 3rd June, 2020, at 15.00,
on Microsoft Teams platform.
Aim of the course: To introduce the construction of models of QFT in the approach of operator algebras, passing from general topic, as CCR and CAR Algebras, to special examples of quantum fields and physical states and representations. Some current research topics will also be discussed.
Program:
1. C*-Algebras for physical Commutation Relations: CAR and CCR Algebras, physical states, non-regular states on Weyl Algebras.
2. Quantum Field Theory. Quasifree Bose and Fermi Fields. Klein-Gordon field. Electromagnetic Field. Massless scalar free Field in 1+3 and 1+1 dimensions.
3. Intro to further topics, e.g. QFT on the cirle, Loop Groups models, QFT on curved spacetimes.
Detailed preliminar Program
Exam: mandatory seminal form for students who wish to certify their participation for the purpose of the PhD course.
