Abstract:

Serre's conjecture contributed to increase the interest around modular curves associated to normalizers of non-split Cartan subgroups and to their rational points. I will show how to compute explicit equations defining these kind of modular curves. This could be done using Fourier coefficients of suitable cusp forms and canonical embedding and, if the genus of the curve is greater than 3, the resulting equations are quadrics in projective space.
