Title: Families of modular forms and Galois representations. 

Abstract: We introduce the audience to p-adic families of 
              modular forms and Galois representations. 
              We will discuss how such families are being used 
              to answer questions in number theory that 
              seemed previously inaccessible, e.g. whether 
              ordinary modular Galois representations are locally 
              split.
