Minimal surfaces. Old and new problems

ABSTRACT: In this seminar we try to make a briefly introduction in the fascinating world of the minimal surfaces in R3. We will meet Euler and Lagrange with the catenoid, elicoid and their variational equations, Weierstrass and Enneper with their representation theorem, Douglas and Rado with their solution to the Plateau problem, Bjorling with his problem on analitic strips and Osserman, Hoffman and Meeks with their open problems.
