Title: Quantum Physics, Relativity, and Noncommutative Geometry
Abstract: Quantum Physics and Special Relativity meet in the Principle of Locality, which is the heart of Quantum Field Theory, when gravitational forces among elementary particles can be neglected. Yet their pacific coexistence in the Measurement Process is still questioned; we argue that it is not in doubt. Quantum Physics and General Relativity, however, are not known to pacifically coexist, nor to meet in any equally sharp variant of the Locality Principle. We discuss how they imply a noncommutative picture of Spacetime, and we describe the spectrum of the distance, area and volume operators on Quantum Spacetime.
