The Tor Vergata Math Department
The Math Department has received the highest score between the medium and large facilities for the
Mathematics and Computer Science areas in Italy during the three-year evaluation of the research
published by the Ministry of Education in 2006 (see
http://vtr2006.cineca.it) and was yhe only one in Italy selected among the 19 centers of
excellence for research in Mathematics in Europe by the center of Higher Education - Die Zeit in 2007
(see http://www.excellenceranking.org/eusid/EUSID).
Its international reputation is also considerable.
Within the Math Department there are three-year undergraduate programs, three graduate programs and two Ph.D programs.
The student body of latter two programs comes from around the world.
There are many opportunities for learning mathematics beyond formal coursework. To supplement the classroom
experience, a series of lectures, colloquia, conferences, and various exchange programs are scheduled throughout the
year.
Distinguished visiting faculty supplements a noted regular faculty. The Department of Mathematics of Università
di Roma Tor Vergata includes more than 100 Professors with interests that cover all core areas of Pure and Applied
Mathematics and Computer Science.
